Three - Dimensional Form

In order to see and understand shapes and forms, we must accept the fact that positive and negative contours are the underlying principles behind their existence. Artists that work in the two - dimensional, for example drawing and painting, consider form as occupying space.  Sculptors work in the three - dimensional, relate to negative and positive volume.  Unlike working in clay which is a process of adding and shaping the material, sculpting is a process of removing.  If you can visualize the meaning of negative and positive form, you have accepted the basis of sculpture.  The following works in progress by the Artist are provided to demonstrate the sculptors' creative process.
